A German hostage situation has ended with five people dead, including the hostage taker. The shooter was a man due to be evicted from his apartment in Karlsruhe, Germany. The eviction followed his none payment of rent.

Today July 4, 2012, the eviction was about to start. A court bailiff and locksmith were present. The man shot and killed these two people plus his ex-girlfriend and the woman who was to be the new tenant.

Locked in the flat police believed it was a hostage situation when in truth the people were already dead. The authorities eventually stormed the flat and found a scene of carnage. Five dead bodies including that of the gunman.

The dead were killed by a gunshot wound to the head. The ex-girlfrined was the owner of the apartment and it was she who had begun eviction proceedings.

The man was known to have a small arsenal of weapons including a grenade. The officers who attended the drama were from the crack squad, SEK armed police commando squad. Forty of these officers attended the scene but in total around 200 police officers were called upon.

A neighbour reported hearing the gunman shout, "You want my home, It will cost you your life"  The siege began around 9am lasting three hours.

In the event though all five people were dead from the start. RIP

Seeing Robin Gibb on UK breakfast TV earlier this week it was plain to see he has not been well. Always a very thin guy he looked drawn and tired.

It turns out he has had hospital treatment this week for inflammation of the colon. Robin and his family have asked that their privacy is respected whilst he recovers. However it is worth mentioning his health, as it could have so easily prevented his recording with the Soldiers. Robin was adamant though that he would record with them and the single was released today, October 23, 2011.

It is a reworking of the Bee Gees hit" I've just gotta get a message to you" This year's appeal is launched on October 27, please give generously.
