After all the huffing and puffing about the earthly remains of Muammar Gaddafi it seems it was decided to be prudent and hold a post-mortem or autopsy on his body.
The latest news is that this was carried out overnight, with forensics working through the night to complete the task. Unlike Osama Bin Laden, when the US authorities were in full control of what images of his death and body were taken and released, this was a different kettle of fish

A veritable mountain of images and youtube videos flashed quickly around the world and it did not make for easy viewing. The New Libya needs to have a fresh clean start and the best way forward after the way that Gaddafi died has to be openness.
Whether this autopsy will be truthful is up for debate.
One of the forensic doctors who carried out the post mortem said, "We worked all through the night. We just got done" but he did not reveal any findings. Gaddafi's corpse was taken to the morgue in Misrata but is to be taken back to the cold store where it has been on public display. It must be starting to decompose already and the stench will be bad in spite of it being a cold store.
We will have to wait and see what is publicly revealed from this autopsy and when, how and where Gaddfi's body will be disposed off. One pathologist has confirmed Gaddafi was shot in the head.
As the story unfolds somewhat it is now clear that intelligence agents from the UK MI6 and the US CIA were leading the mission that found Gaddafi. Liaising with those freedom fighters on the ground they were of course complicit in his death. Whatever you feel about the death of this tyrannt, so often called a Mad Dog, that's a fact.
