Chevaline in the French Alps has been the scene of a brutal murder, the killer and reason unknown. Police have confirmed that the victims found in a BMW car yesterday were British tourists, all part of a family. Three bodies were found in the car. A man was dead in the front of the car and two women were dead, slumped in the back.
Eight hours later a 4-year-old girl was discovered alive under the female bodies.
The crime scene had been left in tact as investigations begun. This included leaving the bodies as they were found. Whether the child had been hidden by her parents or simply become covered by the carnage is not known.
The car was riddled with bullets and a cyclist was also shot dead. It is believed that the cyclist came across the carnage and was therefore killed. Another young girl found at the scene of the crime, a little away from the car, is in a critical condition in hospital.Reports say that she is aged seven and was shot three times.
The cyclist came across the car involved around 4pm yesterday afternoon. A car was seen driving at speed away from the area.
The area around Lake Annecy is a popular tourist area. Often referred to as "the little Venice of the Alps" .
Police investigations are continuing.
