He is not the first to die in this way. His death is at least the third such assassination, apparently targeting the nation’s atomic program. Iran has continued to maintain that its interest in nuclear power is for energy or fuel reasons. The West does not believe this. The West believes that Iran has a nuclear development program geared toward developing nuclear weapons.
Again it is all about western hypocrisy. Countries such as Korea, Pakistan, France, the UK, the US and more all have nuclear weapons and capabilities.Currently the West's biggest concerns regarding Iran's nuclear capabilities seem to be about Israel. It is generally felt that with powerful nuclear weapons Iran would quickly target Israel. Whether they would remains debatable.
Israel is no innocent in all of this. Current speculation seems to be that Israeli agents are responsible for the assassinations in Iran. It could of course be outside influences from many countries. Israel seems the most likely though. The US, using the CIA, are not adverse to such covert operations but even they would see such actions are not prudent. They are liable to harden Iran's resolve and ultimately end even the sightest hope for a peaceful resolution.
If it is proved that these killings are at the hand of Israeli agents or other foreign agents it beggars belief. Imagine how the West would scream and shout were the boot on the other foot? Such murders only add fuel to fire and inflame old hatreds.
Today's bomb was placed under the scientist's car by an unknown motorcycle rider. This method has been used before. Today it resulted in the death of Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan, a director at the Natanz uranium enrichment facility in Isfahan province, and one other person. The semi official Iranian news agency Fars said, “This terrorist action was undertaken by elements of the Zionist regime and those who claim to fight against terrorism.” Iranian officials believe the attacks are instigated, and perhaps carried out, by the US and Israel.
Opinion: Oil prices fluctuate depending on the news coming out of Iran and the Middle East. After all the West seems to value oil above life itself.
Iran is said to be facing a severe nuclear program recruitment problem on the back of these assassinations. The people with the necessary skills for the nuclear work are hard come by these days. Can you blame them?
Western sanctions on Iran are due to be reviewed on January 23, 2012. At that time an oil embargo may be considered. If it is implemented it could very easily escalate to war. Iran has threatened to respond to such sanctions by closing the Strait of Hormuz. If it does the West will be scuppered as far as transporting oil is concerned.
So in other words western sanctions on Iran could simply snowball getting bigger, but not better in any way. Surely the time for good sense has not yet passed? Assassinations of scientists do however make you think that resolving this dispute peacefully is already impossible. Mankind's terrible inhumanity to man at work once more.
RIP
