Ten days ago seven people were killed in an earthquake in Italy. Famous landmark buildings were damaged in the 5.8 tremor. Today another earthquake in Italy has this time killed 15.
This second quake has struck the same region as the earlier tremor. The Emilia region of Northern Italy had nt had time to recover from the first earthquake before this second one struck. More people have been displaced and Italy is facing an added burden on its already stretched economy.
There were 6,000 people made homeless before today but this figure is estimated to have risen to 14,0000. PM Monti has pledged help but it will not be easy. Early reports claimed that many people were buried under rubble. Searcg and rescue is under way. Good luck to all involved.
