UK missing boy, stabbing plus double murder
Yesterday, Friday April 27, 2012, a brief hostage situation in the Tottenham Court Road area of London caused pandemonium. A man with gas canisters strapped to his body entered a building and forced employees to throw expensive equipment out of the upper floor windows. A mass evacuation of the area plus a hostage situation followed. The situation ended in a short time. It turned out to be a person with a grudge against the company housed in the building.
It is now Saturday morning and the UK news is in many ways more of the same, that is violence.
There are breaking news reports that three teenagers have been arrested in Birmingham following the stabbing of a man. It happened in the early hours of the morning and a girl and a boy aged 16 have been arrested along with a 15-year-old boy. The man remains in a critical condition. Too young to be in the city centre after midnight anyway?
Police are continuing to search for a man wanted in connection with the murder of two people. 35-year-old James Allen has a record of violence. He is wanted in connection with the murders of Julie Davison, 50, in Whitby, North Yorkshire, and 81-year-old Colin Dunford in Middlesbrough. Both were brutally killed in their own homes this week. Police are continuing their hunt for Allen and have appealed for him to give himself up. It has been revealed that Allen was on bail at the time of the killings. What those charges were has not been disclosed.
Allen is still believed to be in the North of England following recent sightings. A police spokesperson said,
"Clearly this is a man who is a dangerous man, but we are putting absolutely everything into finding him, tracking him down and bringing him to justice."There's a massive police operation in place here. "Over 100 detectives, two forces, not an inch between these two forces, absolutely working in partnership with one goal, and that is to find James Allen and arrest him. "We are 100% committed to tracking him down. This is a 24/7 operation. If you see James Allen, do not confront him, dial 999."
In Willington, in County Durham, still in the North East of England a police search is underway for an 8-year-old boy who fell into a river. Local pub owner Janice Larnach told Sky News,
"A little boy was reported to have fallen in the river and his bike was found at the river bank. "His brother said he saw him fall in, hang on to a branch and that snapped but he hasn't been found up to now. "It happened just as we were opening and we've had a full-scale search in the area." "We've had heavy rain for a week. It hasn't rained today but the river's really in flood."
RAF and mountain rescue teams along with the police continued searching through the night. Thoughts are with the family.
