The worst of the rain may now be over but such is the situation that even the slightest rainfall could prove to be too much.
On Saturday July 14, 2012, people in the worst hit areas were evacuated but some were able to retuen home Sunday as the rain finally stopped. Today July 16 the emergency services are working hard searching for those sill reported as missing. The army has been called in and are now airlifting supplies to those trapped in hgher regions f the area.
What will be crucial now is the weather in the coming hours and days. If there is not enough time before more rainfall the situation will be dire. Flood warnings and warnings of severe weather are sadly in place today for much of the region.
The people of Japan have had more than fair share of terrible natural disasters in the last year or so. The Tsunami and earthquake of 2011 will still be fresh in many people's minds. The 2012 flooding may not yet be over.
