The UK soldiers were all killed in one single incident. The oldest was the Sergeant who was just 33-years-old and the 5 soldiers were much younger. They were named later as Cpl Jake Hartley, 20, Pte Anthony Frampton, 20, and Pte Christopher Kershaw, 19, died in the blast, Pte Daniel Wade, 20, Pte Daniel Wilford, 21, and Sgt Nigel Coupe, 33.
The deaths were a blow to their comrades and obviously devastating to the dead men's loved ones.
Five of the soldiers killed on March 7, 2012, were from 3 Battalion, The Yorkshire Regiment. Halifax, Yorkshire, held its memorial service today at 16:00 GMT in Halifax Minister. The Minster is the spiritual home of 3 Battalion. Also today Wakefield Trinity Wildcats observed a minute's silence before their rugby league game against Huddersfield Giants, Huddersfield Parish Church said special prayers during the morning services and Bradford churches remembered their fallen hero, Pte Kershaw. In Bradford there was also a minute-long silence.RIP
