Jansch was born Herbert Jansch in Glasgow on November 3, 1943. During his long career he released 23 solo albums, the last of which, The Black Swan, in 2006, featured collaborations with curent musical greats Beth Orton and Devendra Banhart.
Hearing of his death tool me back to the mid sixties when Pentagle appeared at Hull City Hall. As a teenager back then I loved their performance. Times change and sadly we all age. Bert had continued to remain an influential musical force to succesive generations ignoring the passge of time.
He died following a period of ill health due to cancer.
