Liverpool may be celebrating their Carling Cup Final victory today, Sunday February 26, 2012, but the match left many of their fans disappointed. Opponents Cardiff City were the early leaders in the game, even though they are not in the same league as Liverpool. Liverpool are a Premier league team whilst Cardiff City lag behind in the Championship league. Today Cardiff City proved that they are in the same league, at lleast as far as football goes.

In the end Liverpool were victorious but the match went to penalties. The final whistle of extra time had Liverpool and Cardiff City tied with two goals each. The penalty shoot out was close run but Liverpool kept their nerve and sealed the game with a 3-2 result.

It is six years since Liverpool won the Carling Cup and the team were over the moon. In the end it was a win and one that was much needed.
