18-year-old Seydou Diarrassouba, from Mitcham, London, was killed by a stab wound to the heart on Monday December 26, 2011. It seems that a fight broke out in a Fast Locker store on Oxford Street, London, which resulted in his death. A further stabbing was reported a short time later. Currently eleven people aged between 16 and 22 have been arrested in connection with the murder of Mr Diarrassouba.
In Salford, in the North West of England Anuj Bidve a 23-year-old student was killed by a gun shot to the head. The attack was said to be unprovoked. It happened as Mr Bidve and friends were walking home. All the friends and Mr Bidve were Indian. The victim had only lived in the UK for three months. It had been his dream to come to the UK and follow his studies but sadly it turned into a nightmare for his family.
Two boys aged 16 and 17 have already been arrested for the murder of Mr Bidve and a third person has now also been taken into custody. Mr Bidve was shot after a brief conversation when confronted.
Both incidents are tragic. The London murder appears to have been gang orientated but the Manchester one is completely senseless. In reality of course both killings are just that, senseless. RIP
