January 3, 2012, it was announced that yet another UK soldier had died from wounds received in the conflict in Afghanistan. This time though the soldier died in Hospital in the UK .

The wounds were sustained while serving in Afghanistan in June 2010. He died at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham on January 2, 2012. He was a member of   1st Battalion The Royal Gurkha Rifles.

The MoD website reads, 

"Lieutenant Colonel David Robinson, Commanding Officer of 1st Battalion The Royal Gurkha Rifles, said:

"It is with great sadness that I must confirm the death of a Gurkha soldier from 1st Battalion The Royal Gurkha Rifles, who had previously been seriously injured in Afghanistan. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this very difficult time.""

A period of grace always follows such announcements in order to give the victims loves ones a breathing space. His name will be announced in due course.
