Using the ATM inside the bank Maria got hold of her bank statement. Looking at it she was pushed by a guy passing her. With speed he had pressed the cancel button and taken her cash card. Before she realised what was happening he was using the ATM outside of the bank and fleeing with £300 of her money. A huge some of money to a pensioner. With more bank notes in his hands it seems that Maria was not the only person hit today.
Maria has been left well out of pocket and very upset. According to the bank this "scam" happpens all the time. Maria only realised what had happened when she tried to get her card out of the ATM and it was flashing for the next customer. The incident has been reported to the bank and the Fraud Squad.
Maria wants to put the warning out to stay vigil when using an ATM. Even one inside of the bank is not 100% safe. These villains act with speed. The advice must be to stay alert, remove your card as soon as possible, shield the number you input into the ATM from prying eyes and keep your eyes open. Thieves also target ATMs by adding gadgets that will help them gain both your card and pin number. If an ATM slot does not look right never use the machine. Do however make sure that you report it to the appropriate authorities. It appears that is what has happened to Maria's card.
If the worst happens report the incident immediately. Consider using your computer for online bank statements also, as a safer alternative. We must let the thieves win buy why add worry to your life.
Maria has said that she is "starting to think that I come from another planet. Honestly I don't feel like I fit in this world any more." You, and sadly many more people, Maria feel the same.
Good Luck Maria and best wishes.
