Mild weather in the UK this week has confounded forecasters. Not so long ago a mini ice age was predicted. It may yet come as the seasons seem to have shifted their timing slightly.
The UK Coalition Government has been involved in a war of words with public sector unions. A planned national strike for Wednesday November 30 looks set to result in some disruption. David Cameron has denied claims that he rubbed his hands in glee when a strike was announced. Media source maintain that he said the Unions had played into his hands.
Whether this is true is not clear but he has already said two things which seem to indicate it is fact. One the offer already on the negotiating table will be withdrawn if the strike goes ahead. Two the government will tighten union strike laws even further.
The government settled a claim by the family of local man Christopher Alder. It was too little too late but at least for the family it proved his death was unlawful.
The rest of the world had much more serious problems to contend with.

As the week started the US Deficit Committee failed to reach an agreement. Each party blamed the other but in the end it is the Us and its people who will suffer the consequences.
The Middle East is experiencing more trouble. The uneasy peace which followed the Arab Spring was always going to be fragile. Now it seems to be well and truly broken. Egypt has had protesters back in Tahir Square. The military rulers responded violently with chemical based tear gas. The death toll reached at least 40 with at least 2,000 people sustaining injuries.
This time however the people of Egypt appear in some ways to be divided. Elections are due next week but the outcome is hard to predict. The death of an unarmed protester, run over by a police truck yesterday, looks set to add fuel to the fire. RIP.
Saif al Islam is to be tried in Libya which may close one of the old regime links. In Syria President Assad is still entrenched. Deadlines set by the Arab League have come and gone and now Syria faces sanctions. Will the next step my military action?
Iran has responded to sanctions imposed by various countries. In a tit for tat manner Iran has today voted to downgrade diplomatic relations with the UK. Most people in the West however fear worse is to come.
In the US Michelle Bachmann seemed to want to commit to a war with Iran which would be disastrous for the world.
As the week drew to a close the bodies of four UK soldiers were repatriated to the UK. All had lost their lives in Afghanistan. RIP
Pakistan was outraged when a NATO led mission allegedly killed 24 of its soldiers when a military checkpoint was hit. Relations between the US and Pakistan had been delicate, to say the least, now they nosedived. NATO did its usual pathetic admission when it said it was highly likely it had killed the men. A full investigation is to be launched but Pakistan responded quickly. A border which NATO uses to supply troops in Afghanistan was closed. The US was given 15 days to vacate an airbase and diplomatic relations disappeared.
Many Occupy protesters around the world were evicted but presumably their fight goes on. With a media black out apparently resuming it is hard to tell.
Yesterday NASA launched a mission to explore Mars. That.s a whole different ball game though. It needs a report of its own so check back later..
