Hillside were forced to look at their way of operating. Was there any way to cut costs without reducing their service?
One change that seemed obvious was the housing of Hillside dogs. Having used a nearby boarding kennels, that gave Hillside good rates, an increase number of dogs had meant this was no longer a cost effective option. Dogs may only go into Hillside as a halfway house but some stay for quite a while and good kennels are essential.
Hillside began to construct their own kennels and fenced area. An added bonus for the dogs is that they have a free area to exercise in the fenced paddocks. A win win situation.
Work on the kennels is continuing and Hillside are hoping to raise £1,000 toward the work. This is not a huge sum of money, but it is to a hard pressed charity. As UK prices continue to increase charities suffer twofold. They have to paymore for everything plus less people are able to donate.
Hillside will be grateful for donations, however small. They also have an online shop where you can prchase a wide range of gifts and cards,
