Golf legend, Severiano Ballesteros

Picture
On 9th May 2011 the world of golf lost one of its heroes and true gentlemen. Severiano Ballesteros, or Seve, for short, was aged just 54 when he died but he had packed more into those few years than others would do in a much longer life. Seve was such a character and his cavalier attitude in golf carried over into his life. This helped his popularity enormously and also the long battle which followed with cancer......more

George Baker, Inspector Wexford actor, dies aged 80

Picture
Veteran actor George Baker had a long career in acting. For many in the UK he was most famous for his role as Inspector Wexford, a Ruth Rendell British television crime fiction series. This series ran for 13 years and repeats are still aired regularly.

Sadly it has been announced that George has died aged 80. He had in recent times suffered a stroke but died yesterday, October 7, 2011, from pneumonia.

Although you may or may not readily recall George there is a good chance that you will have seen his work. He appeared in a variety of roles on TV and film. Not so long ago he appeared in the UK series Midsommer Murders. Other roles included starring in The Dam Busters and the TV series I, Claudius, plus roles in films such as The Spy Who Loved Me, The Ship That Died of Shame and The 39 Steps. His name was even suggested for the role of James Bond at one time. He was never typecast and his 60 year career covered comedy, drama, sc-fi and even roles in soap operas. George was married 3 times and leaves five daughters and a number of grandchildren. His third wife, Louie Ramsay, played alongside him in Wexford as the character's wife Dora. She died earlier this year. George was awarded an MBE in 2007. RIP

UK comedian Frank Carson dies aged 85

Picture
It's the way I tell 'em
Veteran Irish comedian Frank Carson has died following a period of ill health. Last year it was revealed that Frank was fighting a battle against stomach cancer. Belfast-born Frank passed away surrounded by his family, at his home in Blackpool, Lancashire. In a statement, they said he was a "husband, father, Gaga and comedian" who had "set off for his final gig". They went on to add, "He went peacefully at his home in Blackpool surrounded by his greatest fans - his extended family. It's quieter down here now. God help them up there!!" Frank would have appreciated their humour at this sad time>>>Read More Here>>>>>

Hitler's favourite actor dies aged 108

Sir Jimmy Saville found dead at his Leeds home

Picture
 October 29, 2011

Sky News has reported, in a brief announcement, that Sir Jimmy Saville has been found dead at his Leeds home.

Sir Jimmy had a checkered career in the entertainment world as a wacky DJ, celebrity, show host and charity fund raiser. Eccentric in many ways he raised plenty of money for charities, such as the hospital Jimmy's in Leeds.

Remembered more for his eccentricities, big cigars and odd ball ways he was something of a British institution. His most famous TV appearances were as part of the Top of the Pops team of DJs and in his own, Jim'll Fix It show. Sir Jimmy was aged 84. RIP Updates to follow.

"Columbo" actor Peter Falk dies aged 83

Picture
_Peter Falk became famous in the 60s and 70s for his portrayal in the U.S. television police drama series "Columbo." He played U.S. Police Lieutenant Columbo in a style which was to become his own. Columbo was a rag taggle character who appeared scruffy and bumbling at first glance but was really a highly perceptive investigator. His strange appearance was helped by the fact that he wore a glass eye for most of his life. Falk's eye was removed when he was aged three due to a tumour. On June 24, media sources such as Today News, have reported that Falk has died, aged 83. Falk was born Sept. 16, 1927 in New York City. He was from a mixed parentage of Polish, Russian, Hungarian and Czech.<<<<Read More Here>>>>>
