London 2012 Closing Ceremony, music fest

The closing ceremony of London 2012 began with a miniature Big Ben chiming and the crowd counting own to (pm. The opening ceremony was called Isles of Wonder and for some it was a pocket book sized edition of British history. Tonight was hailed as "London Calling" and it was to be a huge music fest. Emeli Sande kicked of the music. Her performance was rather different to that in the opening ceremony. From then on the music flowed and so did the artists. More Here Super Saturday 2012
Even before today, August 4, 2012, begun it was being called Super Saturday. Apparently the Saturday which is in the middle of the Olympics is often remarkable. Olympic medals flow, often toward team GB as events which the UK excel in are held. One of the stand out events today though has to have been the women's Triathlon. The participants in this grueling race gave it their all. First the girls swam 1.5km in the Serpentine Lake in Hyde Park. Thousands of sports fans enjoyed the "free event". . More Here
Canadian Olympians depend on charity to get to London

While Canadians like to bask in the reflected glory when a fellow citizen wins gold in the Olympics, they seldom give a thought to how the athlete made it to the start line. The upcoming London Olympics is no exception. Canadian athletes receive little in the way of support until they qualify for national teams. If they are “carded” they receive a pittance from the federal government. This summer Olympian and professional cyclist Ryder Hesjedal was in the media for his win of the three week Giro d’Italia.
