This headline has really rocked the boat and opened up a most embarrassing situation. The incident happened in Colombia of all places. Apparently 11 of the 200 secret service agents awaiting the arrival of President Obama took 21 hookers back to their hotel, after boozing all night.
The police were called to the five-star hotel when one of the hookers, a Dania Suerez refused to leave because she was promised £495 and was only given £17. By now the neighbours of the high-classed building have stated that she went into hiding. Since it is Colombia it is hoped that is so, because after all she is a single mum. The police sent the report to the US Embassy in Colombia.
That scandal is now under great investigation from the White House. There could a possible breach of security because after all the agents had copies of Mr Obama's forthcoming itinerary. Furthermore, it will be looked into whether they had other secret papers to hand. All of this opens more questions especially in a country like Colombia. With all due respect to the country it is known for being ruled by many well organised drug gangs.
It was further revealed that these agents were boozing in a bar boasting that they working for President Obama. This alone shows the wrong attitude to the job. You could almost believe that they were in the pay of the opposition or opposition forces as after all it is election year in the US. It also leaves the question about what else was discussed in their rooms? This is absolutely incredible behaviour from men in such positions. All this happened just hours before Mr Obama was due to arrive.
US politician Darrell Issa, chairman of the House of Representatives investigation panel, also stated that he suspects the Colombia scandal is not the only one. He will look now further into it especially into the state visit of Mrs and Mr Obama to London. Mr Issa suspects it has all happened before and has been long standing behaviour.
He said: "The investigation will not be about the 11 to 20 or more involved. It will be about how did this happen and how often has it happened."
The investigation also raises the question as to whether these women had any connection to terrorists, criminal gangs or drug traffickers?
This scandal is certainly a political earthquake of the highest magnitude. For sure it is not only involving the US security but the UK as well as other countries. Will we ever get the full truth of it? It is regrettable that it is Mr Obama's government which is involved in the scandal although he is tan innocent bystander. It is bound to be used by the opposition especially now in the pre-election campaign.
One previous bad slip-up was by one of the accused men, David Chaney, who was protecting Sarah Palin at the time on her US election campaign trail. He put up on Facebook a picture showing him looking at Mrs Palin's behind and stating "I was really checking her out, if you know what I mean?" Chaney was with the Secret Service for 20 years. Bad apples stay just that or get worse.
