Hauliers in the UK have threatened that they will support the fuel tanker drivers strike, if it goes ahead. Thousand of truckers voted to blockade refineries and grid-lock motorways.

This would counteract the Government's plan to call in the military, in order to make sure vital fuel supplies are kept up. Tomorrow, April 4, 2012, there is a meeting between the Fuel Lobby Group and fuel distributors, where the decision will be made, as to whether the strike will go ahead, or not.

Fuel Lobby Leader, Andrew Spence, who was responsible for the 2000 blockade said: "We have been in negotiation with the tanker drivers since 2000. This time we will bring the Government down."

He stated further that these plans will be a last resort. However seeing that so many hauliers are going out of business, due to rocketing fuel prices is it not justifiable? Mr Spence has a plant hiring company in Consett co Durham and said: "The prices are rising by the day and 63 per cent is tax. On Sunday I filled up my five wagons and it cost me £7,500. That fuel will last me two days. There is now way you make a living."

After the disastrous announcement by Mr Maude, to fill up all the Jerry cans, a warning which brought UK filling stations to a standstill; he was stripped of all responsibility for dealing with the strike.

Officials stated that David Cameron still trusts Mr Maude despite the calls for his resignation. Well David Cameron clung onto ministers previously who were, eventually, forced out of office.AH, but now Deputy PM Nick Clegg has come to David Cameron and the government's rescue.

He made such a brilliant speech saying "There is no threat of a strike over Easter. There is no need for people to rush out and fill their tanks." Now how about that great reassurance.  That moon must be so crowded by now.
