Although everybody at the moment is enjoying the reduction in petrol prices make no mistake it will only last till August 2012. According to the infamous Budget from Chancellor Osborne in March 2012 the duty on petrol will increase from August. There are already reports that a litre of petrol will rise to 160p which is bound to hit hit families very hard.
It is criminal because a barrel of crude oil is at its lowest price yet, down to $85. After August the price will be the highest yet no doubt. Even Mr Cameron on his previous visit to the USA, before the latest G8 meeting, stated that he didn’t dare mention the price of petrol in the UK in one of his speeches because he knows it is too high. At that time it was 132p. What would they say to 142p as it was just a short time ago and with an increase to 160p expected? All these high petrol prices mean nothing but high profit for the oil companies. They of course will surely appreciate Mr Cameron doing nothing about it.
Now there is new promise, or should that be threat, of an increase to UK energy bills. This could be in the region of £100 to pay for new nuclear power stations and wind farms.
It is understandable that an increased supply of electricity has to be found from renewable sources but who should fund it. However, nuclear power stations are not the answer. For a start the waste from these stations is impossible to destroy or recycle. The storage of the nuclear waste will proof difficult if not impossible or it could end up dumped in the Oceans ironically damaging the environment further. This is already done make no mistake and most probably more often than not. Surely the government must be aware of what already goes on?
The other suggestions are more wind farms which again have proven too costly in comparison to the output. Not to mention the fact that they are unsightly to many. Why on earth is the government so against installing solar panels? It is the cheapest method and just as effective if not more so than wind farms.
Apparently there have been quite a few accidents when the wind broke the masts on wind farms. Furthermore, it has been proved that if the wind is too strong the wind machines have to be stopped or if the wind is not strong enough it will not produce any electricity. So what is the point?
Is there once more a financial gain in the UK Tory madness? There must be a reason for not having solar panels instead IMHO.
