There is more than one report online today, January 19, 2012, that Rick Perry will resign from the GOP race 2012. Only a few short hours ago reports that he was about to quit the race were vehemently denied by the Perry campaign team. Now, if the reports are true, he has overnight changed his mind and is about to resign.

The gossip is that at 10am central time Rick Perry will make a formal announcement that he will be stepping down from the GOP nomination race. Surprisingly, or maybe not, it is also claimed that he will throw his support behind Newt Gingrich. Perhaps after fiery Gingrich's popularity surge, during and following last Monday's televised debate, Rick has decided he is fighting a lost cause.

There is no doubt that behind the scene deals will be constantly being voiced and sometimes accepted. Perhaps Rick wants Gingrich rather than Mitt Romney to win overall and sees this as a way to put a stop to the Romney political machine. If Mr Perry  endorses former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich, the GOP nomination race will be far from over.

Check back later for updates as they happen.
