Republicans in the US are currently electing their representative for the US 2012 election. It appears to be a long and arduous process but of course the bonus of that is plenty of publicity. The downside is that the publicity is not always good. The sight of grown men telling ever yet taller and taller tales in the hope of being elected must be counter productive. In trying to please all the GOP electorate you are bound to alienate some and make unrealistic promises. You know ones like that of Newt Gingrich and his promise of an American colony on the moon in just a few short years.

Apart from electing a representative to stand against incumbent President Obama the GOP will need a potential Vice President. A running mate to go alongside their main man. Rick Santorum's strict moral opinions and Christian views would please the bible belt of America. As Mitt Romneny is a Mormon it would perhaps redress the religious balance. But could and would the two men work together?

The problem with this long running campaign to elect a GOP candidate is that there is a lot of in-house mud slinging. Once words are said they may be hard to forget. After berating a person as unfit for office how can  that same person then choose to work with them?

This is why it appears to be improbable, if not impossible, that Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney could play both roles. They both have strong personalities and a desire to be in charge, or so it seems. Perhaps Ron Paul could work with any of the other three but who can really tell. As the race for the GOP nomination continues many are wondering who will be part of the GOP dream ticket?
