Leather can be an everyday wear but sleazy when desired

Picture
Leather clothing has come a long way, in recent years. It will still not have universal appeal though. For those of you who feel uncomfortable about wearing an animal hide there are many good fake alternatives. However, for those looking to buy a leather garment all I can say is, how times have changed.

Gone are the days of stiff, uncomfortable leather clothing which was hard to keep clean. These days there are butter soft leather options and much of it is machine washable for easy care. Add to this the fact that rather than just a couple of styles there are many variations and colours available right now and you should be laughing.

The final modern bonus is that prices have come right down and leather clothing is much more affordable than of late.

Know your style

Picture
Of course, leather also has a place in the wardrobe of those who like outrageous garb and fetish wear. That I guess is a whole other ball game or hub.

Ordinary day to day leather wear does not have to be tarty, tacky or overtly sexy. The choice is yours.

Mostly, it is about knowing your own style. No matter what your age, height or weight is there will be leather clothing to suit you. Obviously if you are overweight you do not want to look like a sausage bursting out of its skin. As no lean machine myself trust me this is a fact. Often though it is more about admitting to, buying and wearing your correct size of clothes.

Different types of leather will be more flattering also. Consider:

  • Your height. Below the knee length coats will swamp a short person. Waist length bomber jackets may make a tall person seem as if they are all legs.
  • Your body shape. Leather wear can suit all shapes and sizes but you need to choose carefully and be brutally honest with yourself.
  • Your own style. You may be a classy woman who only wants to dress this way or you could be a young woman wanting the latest leather looks. There is bound to be a style of casual leather for you.
  • Whether the casual leather will be for everyday, evening or work wear. This may also have a bearing on the price you want to pay.
  • The choice of colour.
To my mind it is best to buy casual leather from the High Street. The Internet may help your research and offer you ideas but you need to try various styles of casual leather on in front of a no holds barred mirror in order to assess what is right for you.

  • Style
  • Swimwear
  • Plus-size
  • Jeans
  • Footwear
  • Menswear

Set a budget and have a good look around the Internet for ideas. If you do buy online make sure that you will not have to pay through the nose to return the goods if they are not for you.

Leather clothing has longevity, if cared for properly. Check the manufacturer's instructions in order to care for your casual leather. Many of the washable leather items have specific washing instructions and need to be tumble dried after washing, in order to keep them looking good.

It is no good having longevity of product though if the style of casual leather you have bought is bang on trend. The odds are it will look out of place in no time at all. It would be far better to go for a modern variation of a classic style of women's casual leather which could last a lifetime..............................(C) Ethel Smith
