Fornells: Less windy but just too darn hot
Our two week stay in Menorca last year was taken the last two weeks of October. Perfect for hubby's 60th birthday celebration but not ideal for good weather. We had a great holiday and a mixed bag of weather.
The Island of Menorca closes its doors to tourists at the end of October and there are no direct flights to the UK for six months. Those who work in the tourist trade on Menorca have to make enough money in six months to last the year. This year many will have not. Rain stopped play again, but only just
Some said it would rain others said it would simply be cloudy but in the end we thought we would chance it. We walked into Mahon and hopped onto a bus to Calen-Porter.
This beautiful bay can be overrun with tourists and visitors in high season but this time of year it was tranquil. A few dozen visitors on the golden soft sandy beach facing the turquoise water..........Read More Here

So our first day Friday was a belter. Reaching 34 degrees in the afternoon it was so much hotter than what we had left behind in the UK It had begun to rain as we boarded our plane and by the time we took off the skies were grey and full of cloud.Friday and Saturday was wall to wall sunshine in Menorca. As typical Brits we managed a little complain that it was too hot. We Brits always manage complain its too hot, too cold, too dry, too wet, too windy or too anything. Early Menorca vacation
Visiting the beautiful Balearic Island of Menorca in May or June could be perfect for you. In July and August the temperatures begin to soar and the tourist trade hots up in response. Bloody Island, Isla Del Rei Menorca: Work in progress
The Island of Menorca has an interesting past and many places worth a visit. Some are not easily accessible. One such place in Isla Del Rei, once called Bloody Island, situated in the estuary which leads into Mahon, the Island's capital.
We did not realise that access was available at all but it is. Each Sunday morning a boat takes visitors the brief journey across the water from Es Castell to the Bloody Island. For us it was a short walk into Es Castell which as usual was lengthened when we lost our way. Doubling back we thought we might miss the boat but as we discovered today, Sunday September 25, 2011 was to be a bumper day for visitor's to Bloody Island........Read More here
