Commentary - Has western hypocrisy always been as blatant as it is right now or not? Perhaps we are just made more aware of our politician's shortcomings by rolling 24/7 news or maybe it was hidden in the past from the hoi poloi but whatever the case it is plain to see in almost all western military action these days.
We invaded Iraq and Afghanistan, waging what many believe was illegal wars. We then ravaged both countries, removing the unelected leader of Iraq, Saddam Hussein. But we did not stop there and next in our sights were Egypt and Libya. Revolution by the people was encouraged and supported by the west. Bang there goes another leader and Colonel Muammar Gaddafi was not only ousted from Libya but summarily executed.
For all the brainwashing intensive mainstream news reports you find that a story goes so far then goes cold. It disappears from the mainstream media but all is not necessarily well.
That has been the case in Iraq and Libya which are suddenly back on the radar being used some would say to help control the masses, namely us.
We have learned little though from past experience and continue to offer weapons to unknown quantities such as the Kurds in Iraq, if we think it will help our ends. It has little to do with helping the people but a great deal to do with the western agenda.
Tuesday US President Obama has committed to intelligence drones flying over Syria in order to collect information about the dreaded band of terrorists, ISIS or IS. This intelligence may then be used to carry out military strikes, probably from the air.
He has not requested the permission of Syria’s leader, President Assad, a man the west hoped would be long gone by now. However instead of the west's plan for Syria all coming together nicely rebels armed by the west are now running riot. They have formed terrorist organizations and pose a threat to many, especially in the west.
Obama said that he will use drones and whatever it takes to protect American interests which may sound good to Americans but will help reinforce the view that America is actually the enemy of many.
In today's news there are reports that Russian troops reportedly accidentally crossed into Ukraine as borders are sometimes in fields and are indistinct. Either way it causes a great deal of huffing and puffing yet America regularly breaks such rules.
Israel invaded Gaza weeks ago calling the mission Operation Protective Edge and saying it was a ground offensive but for all the fine words it is a one-sided war, with America backing the heavy miltary by Israel.
In its quest to find and kill Osama Bin Laden, perhaps to shut him up instead of trying him, as much as stop his terrorist activity, US forces illegally entered Pakistan; and on it goes.
International laws exist for the good of all and the use of all. We can prattle on in an attempt to justify breaking the rules but all we do is set a precedent. When it backfires we only have ourselves to blame.
