One definition online say "the deliberate killing of a large group of people, especially those of a particular nation or ethnic group"; surely that now describes Israel onslaught on Gaza?
Humanitarian aid is ready and available to assist the people of Gaza but how will be delivered, when and by whom? Will Israeli forces allow charity workers into Gaza and if so who will protect them from Israeli bombing.
The world population is facing some tough challenges right now, but perhaps it always has. In the 21st Century news is 24/7 and we live on sound-bites. Is the current global crisis one of the worst in our history or not?
Imagne the good that could be done for many without the huge cost of bombing a country then supplying aid? What a crazy state of affairs.
One thing is certain, and that is the cost of humanitarian aid and weapons will continue to rise in this troubled word. If not the conclusion must be that some people are worth saving more than others, and that world leaders are bigger hypocrites than we previously thought.
And then there is Syria!
