A store security guard's search for possible stolen goods resulted in a gruesome find. Two 17-year-old girls were stopped as they left a New York lingerie store and their bags searched. Rather than holding stolen knickers one bag appeared to hold a foetus!
Following the gruesome discovery one of the teenager's was taken to the police station for questioning whilst the other girl was taken to hospital.
Did one of the girl's give birth in the store and bag the foetus? Had the girl been carrying around the foetus for sometime? Police are trying to piece together events in what appears to be another tragic case of a teenage pregnancy, albeit this time with a macabre twist.
The girls had shopped in a Victoria's Secret lingerie store in midtown Manhattan when they caught the eye of the security guard. Thank heavens he stopped them and searched their bags.
Police are now investigating whether the girls had stolen any goods from the store. If they did charges may follow.
The girl reportedly told police she delivered the foetus the previous day but had no idea what to do with it. Police also want to ascertain whether the foetus was alive when delivered, or not.
Opinion: Gruesome? Yes. Sad? Very. How come there are no adults, such as parents, wondering what happened to the unborn baby? No health care professionals who had been monitoring the pregnancy? All in all a sad indictment of 21st century western society.
