In the case of Dillon Taylor the shooter was reportedly non-white and the victim white. Both victims were unarmed.
Michael Brown was one of many black Americans killed by a cop. Dillon Taylor's death is more isolated. That is one of the main differences.
The cop in the shooting of Taylor was wearing a body camera and investigations are underway as to what happened. That information should be released as soon as it is available or people will doubt its legitimacy.
But even if Taylor was doing wrong did he deserve a summary execution? Or was it more a case of self-defence by the cop?

What this UK writer fails to understand though is why race is being used in such a way in 21st Century America. Perhaps the mainstream media have shied away from this story after political pressure. Michael Brown's death triggered a period of instability in Ferguson which ultimately included looting and more by an element of the population.
It looked as if the USA was about to revert to its old ways with race hate on the increase. This means that media resources will have tried not to aggravate the situation. That should however not have prevented well established news service from reporting on the shooting.
To this British person the main issues seem to be the heavy arming of police officers and their rapid response with a deadly weapon. People should be outraged about the shooting of any unarmed American by a cop, unless the officer had no other alternative than shoot.
In a previous posting re Michael Brown one commenter claimed it was not practical for a cop to fire warning shots, shoot at an approaching attacker's legs or even Taser them as it may not meet US legal requirements.

That sounds BS to this Brit. That said it is not my country and so if that is the case then it has to be time for a rethink.
When Lee Rigby was brutally murdered on the streets of Woolwich, London, responding armed officers shot to injure rather than kill. The result is his two killers are detained at Her Majesty's pleasure, hopefully for the rest of their lives.
Rigby’s attackers were savage even trying to behead him at the scene but still the cops played by the rules. They are after all not judge jury and chief executioner.

What crimes had Brown or Taylor committed to warrant a bullet?
In the USA and UK we supposedly live in democracies with long standing laws. Unless US cops have an agreed agenda to help reduce the jail population in that country by killing possible law-breakers surely it is way past the time cops shoot-to-kill and ask questions later policy was changed?
