The mission has been more about revenge for the death of three Israeli teens kidnapped and killed. Who killed them is open to debate. The Palestinian teen was brutally murdered in the days following that incident was apparently not enough revenge for Israel.
They will only be satisfied when the death toll climbs much higher. Will that be when Gaza is wiped off the face of the earth?

The population of Israel outstripped that of Gaza even before the current conflict and so it has been a lopsided uneven affair from day one.
Israel's plan could be to try and turn the people of Gaza away from Hamas, a resistance organisation classed as terrorists by Israel and its supporters, but reverse psychology could lead to more people having an axe to grind against Israel.
Israel's operation to defend itself is nothing less than a murderous spree and it is time western leaders acknowledged that fact.

Note: "The situation in Gaza is "simply intolerable and must be addressed", UK Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond says. That is after Labour leader Ed Miliband finally had the guts to come out and say that "PM David Cameron was "wrong" not to oppose Israel's attacks". It may all be politicking but if it helps stop the killing why not?
