The Pepsi Super Bowl XLVII was held February 3. A huge event televised around the globe, in 2013 it experienced an unexpected hitch. The half-time glamour and sounds of Beyonce and the gals, her former bandmates from Destiny's Child, had ended when the lights literally went out.
The power outage hot on the heels of the half-time break meant that play was suspended for around 34 minutes. Whether this was instrumental in the outcome is not known. What is a fact is that the San Francisco 49ers, who were in the lead prior to the power outage, lost the game.
CNN reports, "Lights in the New Orleans stadium's upper tier went dark with the Baltimore Ravens leading the San Francisco 49ers 28-6, minutes after the Ravens' Jacoby Jones ran back the kickoff that opened the second half a record 108 yards for a touchdown."
Maybe the extra time out helped the winning team, the Baltimore Ravens, rest up or re-focus on the game. For sure both teams had the same time period but a fairer outcome would surely have been a game postponement?
However, postponing a huge event such as the Superbowl, could have proved impossible. It is, more than anything, a huge money making event. For that reason alone nothing 'stops' the Super Bowl.
The stadium initially cited the power supply company as the reason for the power outtage but the company blamed the stadium. A power surge was blamed but who was responsible was not known.
Beyonce electrified the Super Bowl with her stunning sound, skimpy leather wear but moreover her sexy strutting. Perhaps she stole the electricity from the stadium? She certainly sent temperatures soaring with a sizzling performance. No lip synching this time, allegedly.
However, the perhaps overtly sexual performance of Beyonce, is worrying when you consider that Super Bowl Sunday is also known as Sex Trafficking Sunday.
