We live in a cynical world thanks to the previous lies of politicians and world leaders. This means we tend to question incidents such as the downing of Flight MH17 more deeply than in the past.
Malaysia airlines lost two planes and hundreds of people, MH370 and MH17, in tragic but mysterious circumstances this year. The fact that MH370 was lost with all on board and the mystery remains unsolved fuels more suspicion.
One thing Tuesday's preliminary report indicates is that Flight MH17 was flying as normal until contact was abruptly lost at 13:20:03 (UTC); this likely means that those on board knew little of what happened.
The families of those who died on the second Malaysian plane Flight MH17 will be glad that the preliminary report has been published but these people still need answers.
Perhaps the final report will supply those answers.
