The Afghan invasion may not have been on Obama's watch but he has been in office long enough to be held accountable for the continued deaths, sometimes by unmanned killer drones, NSA spying, interference in foreign affairs -- think Libya, Egypt, Syria and now the Ukraine.
How any current US statesperson can lecture Russia on sovereignty of an autonomous region of the Ukraine beggars belief.
So the message is - finish dirty business before starting more.
Note: The UK still has forces in Afghanistan and Wednesday the first soldier, of 2014, stationed in the country died of non-battle related injuries. The MoD official announcement says: "The serviceman died earlier today, 5 March, as a result of non-battle-related injuries sustained at Camp Bastion. The incident did not involve any enemy action. The commanding officer of 32 Engineer Regiment Group, Lieutenant Colonel Steve Davies, said:
The tragic death of this committed and professional sapper has hit the Task Force Helmand Engineer Group hard; the Corps has lost a rising star, and his squadron has lost a respected comrade and friend. At this most difficult time, our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones.
The serviceman’s next of kin have been informed and have requested a period of grace before further details are released.
