CNN Report "Kim Jong Un, the country's leader, "sat up all night, feeling painful after being told about the accident" and put aside "all other affairs," KCNA reported, citing Kim Su Gil, the chief secretary of the Pyongyang City Committee of the ruling Workers' Party of Korea."
Imagine that statement in the west? It highlights the huge differences between North Korea and the west.
The fact that this tragedy is being reported at all by official sources appears to indicate that it was a major incident. North Korea does its best to stifle any news that could be viewed by the outside word as negative. The country does not allow free speech, or free and fair elections. The people are manipulated from cradle to the grave.
You can count on one hand North Korean disasters that have been reported globally and they have all been huge tragedies. It is hard to believe that a lack of more reports indicates that all is well in regime led North Korea.
Residents of Pyongyang, the country's capital, tend to have better housing that in rural areas. Residents of Pyongyang also tend to be more affluent.
Having enough decent housing available is a long standing problem and the North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is pushing for the completion of large-scale construction projects.
Fine, but at what price?
