A weird story this one. One that may be viewed as gruesome or divine retribution by some. For the family of the man in this story it is unpleasant, to say the very least.
70-year-old farmer Terry Garner went off in the morning to feed the pigs at his farm in Coos County, Oregon. He never returned. When a few hours later a family member went to the pig enclosure Mr Garner had gone. All that remained as evidence that he had been there were his dentures and some bits of his body.
It is believed that he was eaten by his pigs! Many jokes spring to mind but we will exercise restraint.
Some of the pigs at the farm are reportedly large, weighing around 700 pounds or 318kilos. That is some hunk of bacon. So what happened to Mr Garner.
Investigations are continuing. There has been speculation that he may have had a medical emergency. If that is what happened he could have dropped down dead or collapsed. It is then thought that the pigs, one at least that had a reputation for biting in the past, devoured as much of Mr Garner as they could in the time frame.
What a grisly death if he were still alive. The authorities have however not ruled out foul play. Not yet anyways. Early investigations have been unable to find the true cause of death. Now a forensic anthropologist will examine what is left of Mr Garner in an attempt to discover the cause of death.
The pigs at the farm are larger than normal. This is due to the fact that before they reach such a large size they tend to go to slaughter and Terry had decided not to go down that road just yet. Terry was reportedly a good natured guy who treat the animals on his farm well.
