As many eyes around the world scrutinize North Korea's every move Pakistan test launches a new intermediate-range ballistic missile capable of carrying a nuclear warhead almost 600 miles. This means it would be capable of reaching deep into India, its nuclear armed neighbour.
Following the launch the Pakistani military reported the missile had hit its target in the sea. This Shaheen-1 missile can travel further than previous ones. It adds a new dimension to Pakistan's huge arsenal. Observers claim that Pakistan has at least 90 nuclear warheads. It is one country with a rapidly expanding nuclear weapons heap.
Still the good news is that India is equally well-armed. Of course in reality that is bad news too.
So what is the difference between Pakistan and North Korea? You tell me. Pakistan is a volatile country still receiving foreign aid. India also receives some aid. Neither country really needs the aid both just need to spend their money more wisely.
The west says little against nuclear development in India and Pakistan but gets on to its high-horse about North Korea. Personally I see all these nuclear countries as potential threats, and that includes the USA.
Pakistan has tested missiles in the waters off the region before. So has France. Is there any wonder earthquakes occur? Surely it is time to stop the madness and build fewer weapons?
