In the 60's police would stop and search, mainly young men, of any colour who had long hair, the reason allegedly being suspicion of being in poassesion of drugs. That caused anger and also infringed on human rights but the difference of course was once the hair and fashion had gone the victims were safe. For those stopped because of the colour of their skin or ethnic origin there is no such luck.
