BBC News reorts Tuesday: The Pentagon said warplanes, drones and Tomahawk missiles were used in the attacks, which targeted several areas including IS stronghold Raqqa.
Sunni Arab countries Bahrain, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates participated in the strikes but could that lead to more division?
Saudi Arabia has been pulling many strings for some time.
In the last few days a video was posted by a group of senior Muslims clerics in the UK appealed to the band of killers. They said that ISIL should free Mr. Cantlie under their captivity and that holding him captive is "totally haram (forbidden)" under Islamic law.
The family of Mr. Cantlie has also appealed to ISIL.
Tuesday BBC News finally reported the second video had been posted but TEK had that footage online last week. Presumably the BBC as a government funded media organization is following British government orders about what to post and when. If that protects the hostages all well and good but to date it has not. The BBC Tuesday report:
It is introduced with the title Lend Me Your Ears and Messages From The British Detainee John Cantlie.
The west may not want boots on the ground. The people may believe the military strikes are not war. But 100 years after the Great War, WWI, begun it looks like WWIII is getting underway.
Thoughts with the family of John Cantlie and other hostages.
Note: 40 Turkish hostages were released this week - how come the UK cannot free British hostages?
