The death toll was high, including police officers killed as protesters used crossbows, Molotov cocktails and anything they could get their hands on to fight the authority's goons.
Vague reports that Yanukovytch has been seen with Russian marines and more have been dismissed. There remain some big questions to be answered though.
Will the Ukraine split into two halves, one tied to Russia the other to the west? Will Putin send in forces? How far was the west involved in the revolution? Were US agents on the ground in Kiev? Do the majority of Ukrainians want freed Yulia Tymeshenko as their president or is she simply the preferred leader of the west?
Monday there are reports of anger in parts of the Ukraine loyal to Yanukovych.
Ukarinains face some tough days, weeks, months and even years. Ironically 100 years ago WWI started in this part of the world. Could this latest 'civil war' spiral out of control and lead to global conflict?
Many questions at this stage but few real answers.
For now the priority question is where is Yanukovych?
